The Big Boys were the stuff of legends, giants of the rails, revered for their immense size, power, and reliability. Longer, heavier, more powerful than any other articulated steam locomotive in the western U.S., they became symbols of an era. In response to the ever-present demand for programs the Big Boys, Pentrex re-released the classic Union Pacific Last of the Giants in 1994. Following that, with the cooperation of the Union Pacific Historical Society, Pentrex utilized additional footage taken during the filming of that show to bring you two more outstanding documentaries. Still, the demand for more footage about the Big Boys continued. A newly discovered collection of 35 mm film-which has never before been available to the public-added to our existing archives and gave us the comprehensive film library we needed for this project.
