The Electric Way Across the Mountains (Second Edition).

The Milwaukee Road operated two segments of electrified mountain crossings, between Harlowton, Montana and Avery, Idaho, and from Othello to Tacoma, Washington. These operations were among the favorite photographic subjects of author Richard Steinheimer.

Long out-of-print, the original edition of this book is now eagerly sought after by collectors, Milwaukee enthusiasts, and admirers of Steinheimer's distinctive photography.

This new edition is freshly created from original prints of the Steinheimer and other prints, together with some additional material from the author and others. Covering early operations as well as the postwar era after the Little Joe locomotives arrived, this book is provides broad coverage of the Milwaukee electrification. Distinguished railroad artist Larry Fisher created the dust jacket and frontispiece painting of Milwaukee power changing at Othello, Washington.
